In reply to Moclobemide.....advice please, posted by jasmineneroli on March 22, 2004, at 0:43:32

Thanks for your responses...a mixed reaction for sure. I know it's always down to the individual, re responses to drugs, but it's good to get feed back.
Scott, your hypothesis is interesting.
I'm wondering if Manerix is really going to be any use for for my GAD, since it seems mainly to be an anti-depressant. I know most SSRI's have anti-anxiety effects in addition to anti-depressant activity......been there, done it. But they ended up making me depressed, when I didn't have depression to begin with!!! I'm wondering if Manerix (or any RIMA/MAOI) will do the same??? Any thoughts?
It is true that my anxiety/rages/out of control feelings sound like a bit of depression now, but I honestly feel, that it's something else. I can never focus, get scattered and forgetful, my creativity/thoughts are running wild and I get very obsessive, but with extreme irritability and loss of control (or feeling that way, anyway). I think it's like adrenaline overload and my "cerebral brain" cannot take over. My Pdoc insists I can't possibly have ADD or ADHD (cuz that's how I feel sometimes) since I did not have it as a kid.
Isn't there any kind of "adult onset ADD"?
The only thing that has ever helped is Klonopin, and I have kept on a very low dose for almost a year. If benzo's are effective for me, what does this say about my brain chemistry? I need GABA to function?
Any ideas for alternative drugs for the above scenario? I've been on Moclobemide for a week and will be reassessed in 2 weeks. Looking at all options.
Thx
Jas
