I actually consider Buspar more of a weak antidepressant, and quasi-sedative (little sedation in itself, but amplifies the sedation of other drugs) than a true anxiolytic. Pdocs like it because it seems to have little in the way of discontinuation syndrome, and it can sometimes reverse the sexual side effects of SSRI's and Effexor. If your anxiety runs to panic-attack proportions, however, it has been shown not to work.
