Frequency of mood swings in BP II

My doctor has a working diagnosis of BPII but I'm not sure about this. I think my main problem is obsessional thinking that leads me to feeling depressed. I can be really happy at times but, inevitably, I start feeling anxious and that leads me into depression. This is my observation, anyway.
Bu back to to the bipolar II dx: can you have multiple mood swings within a day? Is this what is referred to as ultra rapid cycling? I seem to have at least two or three mood swings each day. FWIW, I'm a 21 year old male.
