clonezepam made me more anxious! why?

I feel like such a freak, I took 0.5mg of generic clonezepam, and half an hour later I began to feel panicky.
Could this be because I'm using a dodgy brand?
I previesly responded quite well to diazepam.
Can anyone explain why this might happen?
