> K.hi k....ritalin will ``calm down,'' if you will, a person who truly has ADD (usually) thanks to a phenomena known as the paradoxical effect (you give someone a CNS but they don't get wired). a ``normal'' person would be - as advertised by your doc - jittery, restless, and have problems with sleep. ritalin is also use just as in your case, when you are taking something or have mood problems (e.g. depression) that cause you to lose focus or be generally out of it. dexedrine and adderall are the 2 other most commonly prescribed CNS in this regard. you can expect increased attention span, jitters at the outset of treatment, dry mouth, and you can avoid sleeping problems by dosing early in the day. hope this helps, and all the best, chemist
