With Benadryl, I bought the children's liquid and took 1mg (instead of the normal adult dose of 25mg) and still got knocked out for 12 to 18 hours. I have hypersomnia. I wish instead of anti-histamines, there were pro-histamines...that would not help the akathisia but it might wake me up.

>Hi River,
I had hypersomnia, I was sleeping 12+ hours a day & feeling like I could use more. I started taking Remeron, the worlds most potent antihistamine, and after a month it reduced my sleep time down to 8 hours & I wake up feeling great. I use to think of it as a pardoxial type reaction like giving amphetamines to an ADD sufferer to calm them down, but I now know that it's the 5-HT2A blockade that has improved my sleep. You could try some Zyperxa or Seroquel with your Abilify. There is a thread towards the top of the board about Abilify & one poster is combining it with Zyperxa with success.
Cheers,
Panda.
