Don't you know? "Blaming the patient is a time honored tradition in medicine." I read that on Dr Bob's site in a discussion amongst doctors of weight gain from anti-depressants.

I read something else, somewhere else, which I can't link to because I don't know where it is, but it was in a discussion about how a lack of response to medications leaves patients feeling at fault for their failure to respond to meds even though it is often the doctor's failure to take the patient's complaints seriously. If you can hang on a few more decades, the medical profession may catch up and be reasonable. Until then, you're right: it's a crap shoot whether a doctor dismisses your side effects as 'all in your mind' or real -- no matter how real they are to you.

I'm in that same boat right now, if it helps, so maybe we can row together.
