Straterra+Stim together? Helps time management?

Posted by utopizen on May 14, 2004, at 16:01:00

Anyone have any experience combining Straterra with a stimulant? I take Desoxyn right now for ADD, but I need to go on an antidepressant type med anyway for my depression/anxiety/obsessional thoughts.

I'm going to try out the good ol' Provigil+Straterra combo my doc is touting (now that I'll finally see him again after missing my appt. two months ago). But if it doesn't work out, I'd like to try keeping the Straterra and combinging it with a stim, assuming I see even a marginal improvement in my anxiety, depression, and/or ADD (mostly, time management control!)

Speaking of which...

anyone on Straterra or any other drug notice better,
more rational approaches to their time management?

I'm terrible at it, and have used all-nighters throughout college, but I think I've like either gotten too depressed or depeleted too many neurons because all-nighters don't work for me like they did a year ago at age 19.

would appreciate anyone's experiences with Straterra in terms of the "well, I did feel more confident and approached my tasks with greater ease/felt more in control over doing what needed to be done" because this is just not working out with any stim I've ever tried, which includes every stim available... at the most, I might be able to go into a burst of energy enough to write a paper or perhaps read a book or something as an English major, but 99% of the time writing a paper is an all-nighter and taking finals means reviewing the entire course reads the few hours before I take the exam. I wish I didn't have to work off of last-second-of-the-11th-hour mentality all the time, and it seems all stims do for me is enable me to do just that and nothing more.

I definitely feel like there's something that needs to get modulated up there in my head, so I can focus without feeling like it must come in bursts and not feel like I need some artistic inspiration or strike of lightening in my head just to write out a lousy paper I overrate the importance of everytime.

I know most of you out there are all "oh no, only stims do the trick." And more power to you if they do.

But I've been down this road for two years now with all sort of stims, and none of them fundamentally change my feeling of erratic work-cramming, out-of-control lack of drive/energy/focus that I've had since the first grade, and the hopelessness that follows not always being Superman at the last second with each and every assignment.

Please, if you're out there and noticed Straterra or anything else help you in a way that made you feel like you, not a drug with some pathetically short in-and-out half-life- were in control with the things you wanted more than anything to complete, let me know your experiences.
