In reply to Does clonazepam eventually lose its effect?, posted by Guy on May 14, 2004, at 18:02:06
>HI Guy,
I myself am fairly new to clonazepam, i do know it has changed my life, that and the prayers i say to my special saint, St Jude. Pdoc started me on .5mg a day i would take half of that in a.m and the other half in the p.m. worked really good for about 3 weeks then i had a couple of breakthrough panic attacks, but they were not bad at all, not like before. he just yesterday upped my dose to a half of mg in the a.m. and 1mg at bedtime. see how that works i guess. iam on no other meds. good luck maybe chemist will answer this for you also he seems well knowledgeable. the way my pdoc described it to me is that people are less likley to get addicted to klonopin or the generic klonopin because it is longer lasting than say, xanax.
Clonazepam really helps me with my anxiety and insomnia, but I don't take it regularly or in large enough doses to give me real, lasting relief. This is because I am afraid it will eventually poop out and leave me up the creek without a paddle (ie. addicted to a med that has lost its effect, and that could actually add to my anxiety). Right now I am on Zyprexa 10 mg, but that is not cutting the mustard. I really need the clonazepam to have a better quality of life. Have tried countless anti-depressants over the past 8 years, all to no avail.
