OK, I've been on 15mg of Remeron for seven weeks and have been meaning to try to bump up for the last two weeks but have been waiting for an open weekend incase the "coma effect" happened again.
Three reasons for bumping up: 1)my blood sugar has been affected by the drug (I believe my hypoglycemia has been made worse--my blood sugar drops about 2.5 hours after I eat. Affects my mood and how often I have to eat)
2) I started to feel a little more hung over in the morning hours than previously and I had heard the drug is less sedating at higher levels.
3)I was starting to feel more weepy in the mornings but that may be due to the fact that it has rained about three weeks straight and I really get affected by lack of sunlight. For instance, on Friday the sun was actually out all day for the first time in weeks and I felt fine. So, I only bumped up from 15mg to 22.5mg starting Friday evening. I hoped I wouldn't have to go through all the start ups again, but was prepared to be zoned the first few days and then back to having good day time energy levels again by day three as that is what happened when I started on the drug.
Unfortunately, I am having more problems with the drug trying to bump up than I had when I initially started. I am on day three of the increase and I slept twelve hours last night and can barely keep my eyes open today. I never slept twelve hours at 15mg!!!!!!!! And after the first two days I had lots of energy.
I wasn't even sure I wanted to bump up the med, but my pdoc is out of town for the next two weeks so I figured I might as well try it.(Pisses me off. After my last appointment, I asked about making another one and he said to "just call" when/if I needed to come in again with a problem. I was going to call two weeks ago, but knew I wasn't going to bump up those weeks due to plans on the weekends, so I waited until I was available to bump up and now he is gone for two weeks!)
I don't know if I should try to hang in there or just drop down to 15mg. I don't know how I will go to work tomorrow like this!!!!!!!!! It just seems weird that I'm having more sedation than when I originally started the drug.
If I do drop back down, I'm going to have to find something else to add to remeron (maybe) or try something totally different, like an MAOI.
ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHh! Why do I always have to react differently to these drugs than everyone else?
What would happen if I added Wellbutrin to remeron?
Does Marplan cause as much weight gain as nardil. I really don't think I can be on anything that causes weight gain due to blood sugar issues. I haven't gained weight on Remeron but its because I watch everything I eat like a hawk AND walk around not feeling very well for big parts of the day due to low blood sugar. If most weight gain from these meds known to cause weight gain is from blood sugar fluctuations, I'm just not going to be able to do it.
I think all the TCA's cause blood sugar problems.
SIGH.
Any input would be appreciated.
