I have been on both Provigil and wellbutrin XL in the last year. In fact I was on both at the same time with a mood stabilizer. I have posted quite a bit about provigil on here, so you can search to see what I have written.
I suggest you keep the second option available for a future trial because both drugs are quite different from each other. The only real problematic side effect of Wellbutrin is the agitation. Provigil is a lot more smooth.
I was on Wellbutrin xl 300 with Provigil 100mg and Trileptal, but I have dropped Wellbutrin after a year and my third trial for a second trial of Effexor XR 150mg.
I kind of think Provigil is more appropriate for the cognitive dulling and fatigue caused by an SSRI.
You can start at 50mg, and you may need to experiment with dose splitting {100mg morning and then 100mg in the afternoon}or how much you need {100mg vs. 200mg} to determine the right effect for you.
At first 25mg had a profound effect on me, so take advantage of your pill cutter.
I do believe tolerance does occur, so be aware that in a few months you may have to tinker with the dosage. I believe 400mg is the max for Provigil.
Decreased sleep {8 to 6 hours a night}, decreased appetite, speediness, euphoria, very very mild headache all went away after a couple of weeks.
I would suggest giving Provigil a good month to watch all the side effects evaporate. As I have said before on here, Provigil is a stimulant that works in the background for you, so you may not even notice its effects unless you need to be alert.
