I have real trouble sustaining a train of thought, thinking complexly, memory problems, word finding problems, etc;basically all the typical psuedo dementia symptoms but to a terrible extreme .Should I increase the dose, try something else, will no stimulant work if I'm still depressed? any thoughts?
I've thought about the same thing as far as will a stimulant work in a patient who is still displaying symptoms of depression. Are you currently taking an antidepressant? If not, then adding one seems prudent. Depression often co-exists with ADD/ADHD. It's common, from what I've read in the literature, that depression may resolve once a person begins taking a stimulant. If the depression does not resolve, then you probably have both conditions - ADD and depression. I would consult with your doctor.
