Effexor Discontinuation--rebound anxiety panic

Posted by sassyjenw on June 13, 2004, at 23:51:45

I started taking Effexor 6 years ago for panic attacks after my mother passed away. It didn't get rid of my problem, but last year, therapy finally did. Since I was able to finally stop the panic attacks, I decided to stop Effexor. I have been tapering down from a 150 mg dose for two months now, and am past the brain shiver phase, which is great. (Because those are living hell). But now I feel like I'm living one giant panic attack. I feel nauseated and jittery and shaky during all my waking hours, I can't work, I can't even hang out with friends because I feel too sick, and I am wondering if anyone else has had this problem. If so, how long did it last? I feel worse now than the initial problems I was having that led me to start Effexor in the first place. Is it possible to actually get off this stuff?
