In reply to Lexapro user- side effects?, posted by Leira on June 13, 2004, at 17:31:17
The only suggestion I can offer, since I'm a fairly new to Lexapro too, is to hang in there a little longer. Are you taking it a night or in the a.m.? I felt verrrrrry tired my first couple of weeks on Lex but that side effect has waned quite a bit. I still feel tired but not as tired. If I take it at night I sleep well and am OK throughout the day except I've always been a tired person.
When I'm at home and I'm tired once I get my a** up and start moving I'm good to go, but it's that motivation factor that can kill you.
I guess what I'm trying to say is just to hang in there for a little while longer. Side effects are common with SSRIs and being tired is better than tolerating some of the worse side effects you could experience. It should go away and if you up the dose to 20mg you'll probably go through another phase. Let your body adjust for a couple months, and if you still feel tired or whatever than contemplate change. Worst thing to do it seems to me is to bounce around trying different meds without giving the one you're on a real chance. It would suck missing a golden opportunity to get better by being impatient.
Hang in there and good luck! I'll be curious to hear how you're doing in a month.
