Brain zaps are extremely common when coming off of some of the antidepressants. Although they are harmless, they can make you feel pretty bad.
I have been on Lexapro, and Celexa (an older version of Lexapro) for a few years. I take 30 mg. I used to have EXTREME anxiety and depression. But the Lexapro has relieved all of the depression and most of the anxiety. I also recently started taking Strattera which relieves most of my remaining anxiety.
Withdrawal can be tough if you do it too fast. Docs should have patients withdraw more gradually and also take Prozac during withdrawal from drugs like Lexapro and Effexor.
If you truely have depression, I think that you should stay on your Lexapro. It's a very safe and very effective drug.
> I am new here - I am wondering what people mean when they say "pdoc" and "brain zaps". I have been on Lexapro for 10 days and just curious. This makes me scared to come off of it because I already have to deal with vertigo and dizzyness would sky rocket my anxiety if I got off. Wondering if I should stop taking it now....captain
