Well, I'm back to where I was about 2 1/2 years ago. My Pdoc has put me back on Celexa (for GAD, that now also shows some signs of depression too, after a VERY stressful coupla months). I'm also still on Klonopin .5mg per day. Since I've proven to be very sensitive to meds (tried 8 so far!!), he's started me at 10mg, with slow titration to 20mg in a week.
Last time on Celexa, I found it very helpful for the racing thoughts, constant ruminating and subsequent sleep disturbance, but it did not get rid of panic attacks however.Started at 10mg then and stayed there for a long time cuz I found it helped at that dose. My doc (different one then) said 10mg couldn't really be doing anything!! Since I was still having some panic attacks it was increased to 20mg per day (only med I was on at the time). After 6 months at 20mg I began to experience sexual dysfunction, severe depression (with suicide ideation and apathy) and still had the panic attacks and even rage attack sometimes.
I stopped it then and went on a search for a replacement med. Klonopin (.5-1mg)was the only thing that helped without major side effects. However, a year later,it really seems to be affecting short term memory now and I'm finding I take a long time to fully rouse in the am. So I wanted to reduce it.
OK...so here's the question ( AT LAST you say!). Do you think a dose as low as 10mg Celexa per day could be effective as an anti-anxiety med (with or without Klonopin) and have some AD effect too??. I don't want to end up where I was after 6 months on 20mg, last time. My doc has suggested augmenting with Wellbutrin if I begin to experience the SE's from before, which is ok I guess, but I'd still rather be on low dose.
Any experiences/info out there??
Thanks a bunch
Jas
