In reply to Flu like symptoms - Effexor or Adderall Overdose?, posted by Josie Diamond on August 16, 2004, at 18:49:37
hello there, chemist here...i agree with Cressida that the culprit is more likely the effexor than the adderall. i use dexedrine - a slightly higher-powered version of adderall, if you will - and have not experienced flu-like symptoms over a rather large dosing range. i do take an ssri (fluvoxamine), and can report that side effects are negligible. i do seem to recall the dreaded ``flu-like symptoms'' being a catch-all phrase associated with adverse effects reported for many drugs, if memory serves, along with GI distress, dry mouth, sweating, constipation, etc. and of course, do rule out the possibility that you might actually have the flu, by all means.....all the best, chemist
> I started 450mg Effexor in June with 10 - 50 mg adderall as needed for the exhaustion it causes me. In mid July I started having nausea, headaches, pains, low grade fever and an exhaustion that the adderall couldn't touch - like I was sick. Thing is two different doctors haven't been able to find a thing wrong with me. Now the fever is gone, but all of the other symptoms remain.
