amantadine weight loss

I have a friend who was put on zyprexa and trileptal a while ago and gained significant weight (60lbs or so). Now the friend is off the medication and has dropped about 20-25 of those pounds.
I keep reading how amantadine is used to counteract the weight gain while on zyprexa. Would it also help to take off weight while someone is not on other medications?
