Seroquel is an atypical anti-psychotic that is also used as a mood stabalizer primarily for people with bipolar disorder. I have not heard of it being perscribed for anxiety alone that is not associtated with bipolar depression, but it may be used that way as well. Seroquel was prescribed to me for severe depression with extreme anxiety. I could not tolerate it because of the overwhelming drowsiness it caused with me -- drowsiness is its most common side effect. Also, it did not relieve any of my anxiety. I could almost say that the anxiety was even stronger despite all the sleepiness or maybe the sleepiness itself was so disturbing that it increased my anxiety.

But this of course is just one person's response and I tend to be particularly sensitive to side effects. Plus, I was not on it long enough to judge whether it could have relieved my depression and anxiety. For most people I'm sure the drowsiness they experience is tolerable and transitory. So, particularly if your anxiety is tied to a depressive episode of bipolar disorder, Seroquel may be worth a try. The other common side effects are dizziness, constipation, dry mouth. I have not read about any sexual side effects.

Wishing you good luck and a speedy end to your anxiety. I know too well the crippling effects of severe anxiety.
