I'm on day three of Cymbalta, myself, and so far it's pretty similar to the initial effects I remember of Effexor XR: within about three hours, I got calmer, which is always nice, but there's a 'funny feeling' in my head, a funny taste in my mouth, and a sort of appetite suppression that's arguably -- in my case -- one of the most beneficial effects -- sure, there's some suppression, but it's primary effect in my case is to stop me from getting the same sort of tension about eating, so it's easier for me to eat. (Yeah, well -- I'm nuts. You didn't know that already?) I suspect that, for someone without my kind of {ahem} eating patterns, the calming effect on appetite might lead to a slight inclination to eat less, but be otherwise neutral.
Scott, I forget -- have you been on Effexor? The new pdoc calling Cymbalta "sort of Effexor Jr" makes me a bit hesitant to get my hopes up on it, but even though I only had a partial response to it, I did respond to Effexor.
I do hope it works out -- for us both. Mostly, though, Scott -- I've never been 'treatment resistant' in any real sense, I just haven't had access to effective treatment so it looks as if I am. And, as a reaction to the treatment I have had, I get resistant *to* treatment. ;-D So, I hope it works out for you, and gives you a good ride.
Warmth and affection to you.
