Hello,
I am a 20 year old college student who has suffered from depression for several years. I have done the whole paxil/zoloft thing. I was not a fan or either meds. I was recently perscribed wellbutrin(buprion is the genric form my insurance company would pay for). I started taking it about 3 weeks ago. The first few days I was fine. I felt more relaxed and at ease. After 5 days my 150 mgs was increased to 300mgs. I was to take two pills a day. After the second pill the first evening I started to feel a bit feverish and sick but I went along with my studies. The next morning I felt like I had the flu but went to school and felt better as the day went by. Two nights later I started to feel feverish again, I had body aches, chills, all the classic flu symptoms. The next day I felt terrible couldnt get out of bed. I called my doctor and told me to only take one pill a day for a week and to call him back. I did this but was nauseated and unable to eat and I kept dry heaving. I went to the emergency room thinking I had the flu the only thing they could come up with was that it was viral. I had a slight soar throat but my lymph nodes were fine. I started to feel better and after two days I was back to normal except for the nausea and inability to eat. I called my doctor on friday(a week after I first spoke to him) he told me to take the second pill again. That night I felt feverish again and threw up. By monday morning I was miserable again with the same flu like feelings. I went to my doctor later that day and he thinks it could be the buprion doing this to me. I had a slight redness in my throat but no swollen lymph nodes or fever. He told me to stop taking it completly and gave me a perscription for lexapro. I am to start taking that on friday. I havent taken a dose of the buprion since yesterday morning and today I had my energy back and no nausea. After dinner I stared to feel my jaw tighten up and I got a pounding headache out of nowhere. I know this post is very long but I havent been able to find much on bubrion side effects or withdrawels. If anyone could respond to this with their experiences I would really aprreciate it. Hope fully someone will be able to shed some light on my situation. BTW my doctor ordered lab work just to double check that this is just the buprion making me feel like this and not something else more serious.
