In reply to Lyrica (pregabalin) is now out, my review!, posted by jlbl2l on October 7, 2004, at 15:29:06
Here's a few quotes from various sources:
Pregabalin: a new anxiolytic
by
Lauria-Horner BA, Pohl RB.
Department of Psychiatry,
Dalhousie University,
Halifax, NS, Canada."In preclinical trials of anticonvulsant activity, pregabalin is three to ten times more potent than gabapentin." ... "In Phase II and III trials, pregabalin shows promising anxiolytic action when compared to placebo in generalised anxiety disorder, social phobia and panic disorder."

It's kind of been an up and down history for Lyrica... in 2001 Pfizer stopped clinical trials in humans because concurrent trials with mice showed a far increased occurence of tumors. Don't know if they somehow resolved this problem, or just brushed it aside. I know the EU approved it for GAD, but I believe it is still under review by the FDA; however is available for treatment of chronic pain.
Good luck, keep us posted!
