In reply to Weight Gain with Klonopin?, posted by Violet4EVR on October 19, 2004, at 23:56:16
Yes, Klonopin causes weight gain. But since you didn't acquire more weight on Xanax, the chances are none because, I found xanax to be a wonderful appetiser. It was like taking periactin in high doses when I took 1 mg of xanax. I drove to the nearest KFC, forgetting the fact I am under the influence of Xanax and not supposed to drive. The appetite was so ravenous. I didn't feel klonopin the same way. But it added to my weight few more pounds and there will be no good news even after stopping it. Try to avoid benzos if you can. Not because they are bad, but they will dull you cognitively and long term exposure tends to cause more emotional blunting. Try something else. I was on klonopin for a long time, and came off it without any problem granted, the tapering period was very short. Now I am going to try Lyrica, which is really an interesting stuff.
