> I'm looking for an open-minded P-doc, in Toronto or area, with good (well, excellent) knowledge of psychopharmacology and med sensitivities;my last one moved back to B.C.
My pdoc is in Burlington. I like her because she seems to care about her patients, and spends a lot of time on the cognitive, social, and behavioural aspects as well. She schedules appt's 45 min. apart and sometimes spends an hour with me so it seems she's there more for her patients than just to make a buck.
She seems pretty open minded to trying new drugs and combinations as well. She put me on Lamictal on my suggestion last year even though she hadn't heard of it before. She did a bit of research, then started me on it. She did some research on Selegiline as well even though she hadn't heard of it. Ultimately I didn't go on it though. I tried something else instead.
I wouldn't say she's conservative in her prescribing either. She's a believer in polypharmacy. She prescribed Adderall for my depression, and thinks highly of St. John's Wort, which says something about her open mindedness as well.
I'd say she's knowledgable with regards to med sensitivities. I know she has some people on a quarter of a paxil pill because the patient is so sensitive, and another on 5 granules of Adderall XR because of the sensitivity of that patient as well.
If you want some contact information, let me know. Most likely you'll have to get a referral from your GP I think.
