I don't think there is enough clinical experience with Cymbalta to be able to determine whether or not dosages higher than 60mg provide extra benefit. Experience with other drugs like Effexor have demonstrated increased efficacy for some people at dosages significanly higher than what the manufacturer initially recommended. My experience with 90mg has been of increased side effects without extra benefit. I am extremely treatment-resistant, however. I know of one other person taking 90mg, but I don't know what are the results. I have since dropped back down to 60mg.
My feeling is that most people will not benefit from increasing dosages of Cymbalta above 60mg, but time will tell. At this point in time, however, I would say experimentation with higher dosages makes sense if you are not responding adequately to being treated at 60mg for 4-6 weeks.
