I reduced Effexor VERY slowly over a long period of time and had no problems until I got to under 37.5 mg (that seems to be the magic number for a lot of people). When I got to 9 mg. and tried to go off of it entirely, I started getting some really bad withdrawal effects. At that point I started taking a small amount of Cymbalta and the side effects went away completely.
