Or does it kind of sedate you and make you feel out of it.It can do both of those things depending on which one you try. Risperdal was the least sedative one I ever tried and some can take it just once a day. Seroquel was very sedative for me. Very tough to take in the day and think clearly. Those are the only two new ones I've taken. I've got some Abilify, but I don't have any plans to try it at this time. This is pretty subjective (take with tiny grain of salt), but if I was having "panic anxiety", antipsychotics (in the past) didn't seem to relieve that "flavor" of anxiety. However, if I was agitated and paranoid I got some relief from them. IOW, if I was experiencing some mild psychotic symptoms in the first place.

I've gotten EPS symptoms from all of them and it isn't a picnic. Especially if you get an akathisia reaction and can't sit still. Seroquel and Mellaril (a conventional) were the least troublesome in that regard, however. Even though your dx isn't bipolar you might explore adding an antimanic like depakote to see if it will cool all that down before you try the AP's. Your doctor might be more conducive to that idea. I hope this helps and you get better soon.
