> sabreThe dopamine effects are possibly part of the explanation why the nonselective MAOIs (Nardil and Parnate) are felt to be so good for social anxiety, but it could also be related to some other aspect of inhibiting MAO-B. I've also read posts from people saying that drugs like Adderall helped them quite a bit for their social anxiety. Wellbutrin may not be quite powerful enough, but I did notice it made me more somewhat bolder and more assertive, if nothing else.
Norepinephrine effects may also play a role in social anxiety, particularly for people like myself who have elements of panic disorder involved or mixed in. Increasing serotonin is also likely helpful in social anxiety, and that is why the SSRIs show the efficacy they do. Considering these different factors together, it's easy to see why the traditional MAOIs seem to be relatively good drugs for social anxiety/phobia.
