I feel as though ProSom would be better due to its BZD structure, but I'm wondering which one put you out faster, which one puts you out harder, and which one causes the least frequent re-awakenings.

This amazes my wife because she can take 2.5mg and practically slip into a coma ten minutes later! In my experience, Ambien helps me fall asleep and stay asleep for about 5 to 6 hours. I always seem to wake up in sort of an anxious state whenever I take Ambien the night before.
When I reach the high tolerance on Ambien I switch over to Prosom and take one or two tabs (2-4mg I think). Prosom seems to be more gentle than Ambien in both falling asleep and waking. I usually am able to get 7 or 8 good hours of sleep on Prosom. Unfortunately, I often wake up feeling very groggy.
I would experiment with both and see what works best for you.
