Low Lexapro

Posted by sabre on November 5, 2004, at 15:52:28

Hi
I have been continuing a low Lexapro dosage of 1mg/day. This amount still stimulates enough that I have to take Propanolol at work for SA and panic.

I'm also augmenting it with:
SJW - 1.98mg hypericin
1mg fish oil
tsp magnesium (under the tongue as it is not the most absorbable form.

The depression and lack of energy have lifted however the panic and SA remain.

I'm going to reduce the Lexapro gradually...which must seem a joke to those who take larger doses. My next trial will be with Reboxetine.

As an experiment I bought some Tyrosine as it is supposed to lift dopamine which is needed for NA and adrenaline. I took a 1/2 tsp yesterday and didn't notice any effect. Today, 20 mins before running, I stuck a 1/2 tsp under the tongue. The results were good. Felt alert, strong and clearheaded.......despite waking up feeling tired and with a sore throat.

I did a search on tyrosine and came up with this link:
http://www.theaustralian.news.com.au/common/story_page/0,5744,11064960%255E23289,00.html

This is a bit of a torturous spiel...sorry....but what is happening here????

How does tyrosine given to people who have double the NA regulating gene help? I understand that increasing tyrosine could help to increase NA levels and this would explain their increased levels of anxiety while on tyrosine. Does the extra NA then eventually cause down regulation of the NA receptors?

If this is the case, for those people who have
tried Reboxetine and Wellbutrin and complained of intolerable anxiety would they have received a better result if they had started with lower doses and just waited long enough for the downregulation of the NA receptors?

Does the time for downregulation vary greatly with each neurotransmitter and individual?

I'm testing the tyro tomorrow with a timed run. I hope it isn't like other chemicals eg Lexapro and Moclobemide. The results were brilliant in the first two days and then downhill.
