How does Provigil help depression?

Posted by becksA on November 5, 2004, at 17:25:28

I was told on an earlier post that I might want to try Provigil....I'm recently diagnosed BPII, depressive only...and also take Adderall for ADD. The Adderall seems to help the depression, but there is a time during the day when my morning XR dose is wearing off, but still in my system....until I take my next dose of short acting Adderall. This is about 12(noon) to 3pm.
In other words, adderall boosts my mood in the morning , then those effects wear off around noon, but the other amphetamine-like symptoms stick around, so I wait until 3pm to take my dose of short acting adderall, which seems to kick up my mood again. Anyway, I'm stuck with those 3 hours of gloom...Somebody suggested Provigil.
I went to their site and it seemed to be an "energiser" for lack of a better word...but does it help at all with mood? Is it short acting..or like SSRI's does it take a few weeks or more to get working....what's the story on this one?
Thanks
