In reply to HELP!!!!! Allergic To Wellbutrin need advice, posted by liberty2004 on November 5, 2004, at 15:14:13
I've heard of people taking antihistamines in cases like this. I am not a doctor or an allergy expert and do not know how prudent this is, but if I were in your place, I might do a little research on it. Rashes/allergies to Wellbutrin seem pretty common, unfortunately. My observation is that it seems to be the worst of the antidepressants in this regard.
Parnate is probably the drug most similar to Wellbutrin in the antidepressant class in its dopaminergic action and resultant sexual effects. Parnate also seems to have a tendency to cause rashes, but I do not believe it is bad as Wellbutrin. Of course, Parnate is an MAOI with all the consequent dietary and drug restrictions. Nortriptyline is a tricyclic AD that is noted for not generally causing sexual side effects. You might notice a little dry mouth and constipation, but I would personally take that over no sex drive.
