At this point in my life I have come to realize that I will always need some kind of ongoing treatment for my depression. Even if the rTMS works I will definately go back on antidepressants anyway. I think they may even encourage you to seek out other help after this study in the form of antidepressants even if the treatment is effective.
I haven't read anything about rTMS that indicates that it is a permanent fix for depression. I think it is considered more like ECT in that further maintenance sesssions are the norm.
