> I am just curious. Has anyone become *more* depressed on lexapro? No agitation, just very anergic and deteriorating outlook. It has only been a week and a half and I'm aware that it's possible it's a coincidental downswing and the drug has not kicked in yet.

I tried Lexapro for a few weeks, I got an immediate improvement in mood, but I attribute that to its anxiolytic properties. Then my head just got quieter and quieter to the point where it seemed like I didn't have any thoughts at all. This was during a time that I normally experience depression, so in some ways it was making the depression *worse*. I think it's the antidopaminergic apathy thing that goes with SSRI's. Great for anxiety, not so good for depression (for some people). I wasn't worried about anything, but I didn't care about anything either-very unmotivated. Over time with multiple trials of everything imaginable.. I've found that SSRI's (as a sole AD) often don't work that well unless anxiety is driving the depression.
