Lamictal, Provigil, anxiety, fatigue doc referral?

Posted by krem on November 22, 2004, at 10:31:45

I'm newly upgraded from depression to bpII. Had a crisis following miscarriage, was panicky, probably hypomanic, psychotic features.

Doc put me on Lamictal, had inCREDible anxiety/dysphoria at lower doses, stuck it out. Still no "magic" change at any particular dose level.

I have horrible horrible fatigue, recently took a polysomnograph and got a dx of narcolepsy. I've also had neuropsych testing recently and got a dx of chronic fatigue.

I've had this basically since onset of adolescence (34 now). Thyroid tests normal.

Provigil is HORRIBLE For me, brings back anxiety and then some. I can tolerate side effects like headaches, hair falling out, even weight gain if I could only function! It's terrorizing to me to feel so tired all the time. I will fail at work and school (massage therapy), and begin the horrible downward spiral again.

I live in the Metro Washington DC area.

Can anyone suggest a good doctor for any of my diagnoses -- a doc who will listen, believe in my commitment and not get angry when I report side effects that are truly intolerable (anxiety).

AND, can anyone suggest another med mix that might be better for me (e.g. add a certain antidepressant?)

Thank you all in advance, and thank you for your patience with the length of my message.
