I have been taking depamide for 7 months, but have just changed it (yesterday ! ) for depakine. Both very similar to depakote.
I felt progressively better with the depamide, but couldn't put up with the side effects. A month and a half ago a specialiste put me on Lamictal. Its a mood stabiliser that tends to stabilise towards an 'up' rather than 'on the flat' or 'down' .
Having progressively reduced the depamide/depakine which has an 'antidepresseur' effect, I have been going down hill these last few weeks. However, I've upped the Lamictal and replaced all my somniferes with Rivotril ( another mood stabiliser ) and we'll wait and see.
Best wishes,
Claraps, all that is to treat BPII 1/2, or cyclothymia
