Hi,
Thioridazine (Mellaril/Melleril) used to be one of the most popular antipsychotics in the UK. I've never taken it myself but I have known several people who have taken it.
A friend of the family who had a stroke was given thioridazine to relieve severe agitation. She took 10mg three times a day. It was apparantly quite effective in reducing distress. Because of the risk of arrhythmias, a lot of the people (in the UK) who used to take thioridazine have now been switched to chlorpromazine or an atypical AP.
