Hey all,
So, I've recently been taking the cyclical component of my depression more seriously and some sort of BP spectrum is seeming more likely. I started fish oil last Weds when I was in a low/mixed state and felt better almost immediately (although still with racing thoughts). This could be just me headed into an up portion of the cycle or it could be because of the fish oil.
Anyway, my pdoc added Lamictal, and I had my first dose (25 mg) yesterday and I felt substantially *worse* afterwards. Kind of like my usual symptoms when I'm down: confusion, hard to concentrate (although that's also the case then I'm up), tired, low-energy, etc. My blood pressure was down, which is a tell-tale sign/cause of being in a low mood for me.
This lasted about 12 hours or so, at which point I reverted to feeling normal, or possible slightly up again. I can't be sure, but I think it's the Lamictal that did this to me. I feel like it wasn't just a matter of coming down to an equilbrium, but that the Lamictal made me more down/anxious.
I'm scared to take another dose again today. I realize that this might be a transient side effect, but I had a similar experience with Serzone, and it never resolved. If I take it, I'll do it at night, but I'm kind of scared to.
If anyone has had a similar initial reaction to Lamictal, I'd definitely appreciate hearing about it. Especially, whether it is likely to get better over time.
Thanks,
