Isocarboxazid (Marplan) and weight gain/loss

Posted by ed_uk on December 13, 2004, at 9:08:04

Hello,

Isocarboxazid (Marplan) is an MAOI, similar in many ways to phenelzine (Nardil). Weight gain is a common side effect of Nardil, the effect of Marplan on weight is less clear. Weight gain has been reported with Marplan, but weight loss has also been reported.......

.....Many psychotropic drugs are associated with weight gain. Others, such as isocarboxazid, topiramate, and psychostimulants, may cause weight loss.....

Calling all babblers who have taken Marplan for depression or anxiety!!!!

Did Marplan cause any change in weight?

If you have also taken Nardil, did the effect of the two drugs on your weight differ?

Does anyone have any experiences with Marplan to share?!

Regards,
Ed.
