Anafranil, black-outs and convulsions

Posted by vwoolf on December 13, 2004, at 13:04:45

Many years ago I was prescribed Anafranil for a severe depressive episode. On a few occasions I drank wine (not much, as far as I remember, but I am not sure what happened after I lost my conscious awareness) and suffered black-outs for two to three hours. I call them black-outs, but this might not be the correct term - I apparently functioned normally but without any of my normal inhibitions, so that I suddenly came to myself in dangerous situations without any knowledge of how I had got there. My doctor took no notice of this, until I began to convulse on the third occasion. He then changed my meds to Tofranil. Has anyone else had a similar experience?
