In reply to Nardil or Parnate for SA? Side effects ?!, posted by Ted_Brosnan on December 7, 2004, at 18:06:16

The good: Nardil is the best (legal) social phobia med out there, even better than Klonopin b/c you don't get that dysthymic effect that long-term Klonopin is notorious for.The bad: The side effects are horrendous: anorgasmia (often goes away after some time), possible hypertensive crisis, hypotension, etc.
But for the side effects, it would be the best drug out there. But if safety and sexual performance are important to you, klonopin is the way to go with an adjunctive med to offset dysthymia/anhedonia
I been to my new psychiatrist today. He is willing to rx a MAOI. I am not sure which one to ask him for! Which one has less side effects, Parnate or Nardil?
