As you may know, I'm not really a fan of diagnostic categories! I think some pdocs put too much emphasis on diagnosis. I have never really fitted well into any specific 'box' myself, I have symptoms from many different categories, as many people do. Thankfully, my pdoc isn't really that interested in diagnostic categories ....and he's still happy to prescribe the citalopram. Many doctors are willing to prescribe psychotropics in the absence of a diagnosis. In many ways, a persons symptoms, as opposed to their diagnosis, are more helpful in selecting an appropriate drug eg. severe 'rejection sensitivity' could be treated with an SSRI or Nardil even in the absense of a formal diagnosis.
I do find citalopram to be anxiolytic and anti-obsessional. I take 60mg/day. What effect does it have on your personality?
