Taking Geodon and Still Sedated- What To Do?

Posted by TomG on December 28, 2004, at 12:10:22

My transition over to Abilify didn't go as planned. I got two days off Geodon and started getting sweats, insomnia, bizarre thoughts, sore weak muscles, and anxiety. The muscle soreness was from the Abilify, because it stopped when I quit taking it.

Again I have only ever been on 20mgs of Geodon and I wake up sleepy and stay sleepy all day. The weird part is is that I don't sleep all day. I am awake but sedated if that makes any sense. My brain tells me that I don't really need to sleep anymore. I get about 8-10 hours a night. My first two months on Geodon I had no sedation whatsoever and then it came out of the blue!

The other thing is ever since this started my eyes are watery and sleepy and I seem to have bad allergies. By the time it is time for my next dose of Geodon the allergies have gotten better, but once I take that dose my eyes water up and the allergies seem to come back. Could I have developed an allergy to Geodon since this all started two months into taking Geodon?

What could I do here? I know I'm if I'm going to switch AP's I'm going to need something lighter than Abilify. My doctor wanted me to switch to 25mgs Seroquel hoping that my symptoms could be held at bay with that tiny dose. Seroquel is very sedating though. I tried Provigil and it didn't help this feeling I've got. I don't think that the histamine antagonism is to blame here. I'm on much too low of a dose. Whats going on? I want to rip my hair out because of this.
