I would think that there could be people who may disagree with your statement. Depression, anxiety and other mental illnesses do not just affect the mind. More often than not, these disorders come with a number of physical symptoms, including nauseau, IBS, dizziness, insomnia, loss of appetite (which can lead to serious nutritional deficiencies), fatigue, chest pains, shortness of breath, etc., that can be far worse, more debilitating and affect not only overall health but quality of life more than the side effects of an antidepressant. Recurring thoughts of or attemps at suicide; crippling anxiety, fears and phobias that seriously limit or even put an end to an individual's ability to function; or obsessions and compulsions that take over an individual's life, to name few, are also heavy risks to a person's overall health (IMHO).
