CC,
I addressed some of your concerns on the PB Withdrawal board.
I do not believe you are psychotic. You are perhaps suffering from a biological affective disorder accompanied by significant anxiety and rumination.
Are you bipolar? How do you know?
What do you think about all day?
You might benefit greatly from psychotherapy.
I know your doctor has told you to try going without medication; the details for the decision I don't know. However, I think you might benefit from a quick trial of Zyprexa. You wouldn't need anything more than a few weeks to know if it will be helpful. You might even respond to it within a few days. Zyprexa is a newer "atypical" antipsychotic with antidepressant and mood-stabilizing properties. EPS side effects are very much reduced compared to the early neuroleptics. Tardive dyskinesia is almost unheard of. Many people who take it report thinking more clearly in addition to experiencing relief from anxiety and rumination in particular.
With what I know now about the antipsychotics, I wouldn't hesitate to try Zyprexa. I have used it and benefited from it. I have been on Abilify for over two years. I do not recommend Geodon, as it can precipitate mania and psychosis. Abilify is sometimes hard to initiate, as it can produce an akathisia-like effect during the first week or two. Zyprexa will make a much better first choice.
