I had ECT several years ago, after trying many drugs that had no effect. I debated about having it done, and did lots of research. Of course, everyone reacts differently to the entire procedure - but it seems like it's a viable treatment for many.
I did have some memory loss surrounding those weeks. Other than that, it wasn't too unpleasant. Unfortunately, the ECT did nothing to alleviate my depression. However, as I mentioned above...everyone reacts differently to the procedure and what didn't work for me might work wonders for someone else. It was the best option at the time and I don't regret trying it. I hope you find what you need - soon!
