I haven't tried sulpiride, but I have experience with a very similar one called amisulpride. Are they good for dysthymia and depression? According to clinical studies, yes. According to my own experiences, yes.
Amisulpride was excellent for things like comfort, composedness, confidence, motivation, and overall pleasure in life, after getting through a bit of anxiety as an early side effect that went away quickly.
Some people get no effect from these meds though. If one has some kind of dopamine malfunction, then these are good meds. The only way to know is to try.
So if Amisulpride was so good, then why don't I take it anymore? It is not common actually, but it had sexual side effects for me that were just too much. Now I take zyprexa plus prozac plus st johns wort and get good results with that. But if not for the sexual side effects, I would probably be on Amisulpride for life.
Sulpiride is worth trying if you have not had luck with serotonin medications. Though it is very similar to Amisulpride, they are different enough to be unique in how someone responds to them.
