The problem is there is not enough money to keep a person in the hospital unless they are acutely psychotic, Threatening to kill themself or someone else. If you don't strongly plead suicide than they will release you and send you to your own pdoc. I'm assuming it's the same in Canada. I guess your friend needed to be almost dead or running up and down the streets claiming to be the Queen of England! I'm so sorry. But, please be safe and get back to us later. I'm so glad you're posting. Any chance that you and your friend could live together while you're both having such a bad time to support and help each other? Fondly, Phillipa
