In reply to possible way to make new nardil more effective, posted by Michael Bell on March 30, 2005, at 19:53:23
> Maybe this has been discussed already, but one of the common theories I've heard kicked around is that the new Nardil is not as effective because it dissolves MUCH more quickly than the old, and perhaps releases most or all of the active ingredients before reaching the the stomach lining where it is intended to be absorbed. Let's assume for a second that this is at least part of the problem. They sell empty pill caps in many places. However, even if the nardil pill was placed in the capsule then swallowed, the capsules I've seen are designed to dissolve in 5-7 minutes anyway, so I don't know how effective this extra time would be. Has anyone ever tried this? Also, does anyone know of empty pill caps that dissolve slowly? Thanks.
What about just titrating the drug as you would any other? Take as much as you need to get the desired effect. People frequently must have their medication adjusted from time to time anyway. Perhaps just taking more is the answer. I don't know. If I ever go back on it, I will be prepared to target 90mg instead of 75mg.
