Geodon and prolactin

My regular blood work came back and I have very elevated prolactin levels. I'm on Geodon and my p-doc is switching me to another atypical to deal with the high prolactin levels (he says that the Geodon is the cause). What exactly does prolactin do, short term or long term? Has anyone had this reaction to Geodon? I guess I just freaked out and my online research didn't help at all. Thanks.
